is looking to fill a contract position for a
Nutanix Specialist
to support a large-scale
Data Centre Consolidation
initiative. This role will work closely with infrastructure, application, and networking teams to accelerate Nutanix migrations and ensure smooth, well-coordinated cutovers. Success in this role means enabling faster migration throughput, minimizing downtime, and providing steady technical support throughout evening maintenance windows.
Responsibilities
Migration Planning & Execution
• Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing workload migrations across Windows and Linux virtual environments.
• Perform detailed pre-migration assessments including dependency checks, source/destination validation, and runbook preparation.
• Leverage Nutanix AHV and VMware vSphere tooling to facilitate workload movement, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Execute cutovers, validations, and post-migration activities—primarily during evening change windows.
Technical Troubleshooting & Support
• Provide real-time issue resolution during migrations and support post-migration stabilization efforts.
• Investigate and troubleshoot host, VM, network, and storage-related issues that arise during transitions.
• Document processes, issues, and resolutions to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Cross-Functional Coordination
• Collaborate closely with application owners, infrastructure teams, and network staff to ensure seamless migration activities.
• Communicate timelines, risks, and progress clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ensure migration requirements, dependencies, and remediation steps are well understood across all teams involved.
Requirements
• 5+ years of experience administering Windows and Linux servers in virtualized environments.
• Advanced hands-on experience with
Nutanix AHV
and
VMware vSphere
, including migration techniques and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Cisco Networks and ACI is an asset.
• Strong scripting abilities (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.).
• Experience with workload migration tools, runbooks, and structured migration methodologies.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
