Position: Child Minder & Food Prep Helper

Responsible To: Community Development Coordinator

Anticipated Start Date: January 7, 2026

Salary: 3 hours per week at $48 per week ($16/hour)

Anticipated Shift: Wednesdays, 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Position Summary:

Baby Steps at NorWest Co-op Community Health Centre is seeking an energetic Child Minder & Food Prep Helper to support our Healthy Baby program. This role involves preparing snacks, cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen, maintaining a safe and engaging child-minding space and assisting staff and volunteers with program delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide child-minding support and engage with young children
  • Set up, maintain, and clean the child-minding area; disinfect toys and high-touch surfaces
  • Prepare snacks and assist with food set-up; clean and disinfect kitchen surfaces, wash dishes, handle the dishwasher
  • Sweep and mop floors, wipe down counters, fridge, microwave, and stove
  • Capture program stats and report any incidents to staff

Requirements:

  • Must be energetic and comfortable with young children as well as being confident in the kitchen
  • Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check required
  • Food Handler's Certificate is an asset but not required
  • Ability to work collaboratively with program staff and volunteers
