Position Overview

We're looking for a Certified Gas Fitter to complete installations and services on the gas side of our residential and small commercial installs—pulling gas permits, running gas lines, connecting and commissioning fireplaces, and handling service/diagnostics.

You'll be supported by:

• An apprentice in the field.
• An office team that handles the scheduling and warehousing.
• A structured POS-based workflow for estimates, work orders, and invoices.

Key Responsibilities

Gas Installation & Commissioning

• Install and pressure-test residential gas lines for fireplaces and related appliances in accordance with BC codes and manufacturer specifications.
• Pull gas permits and coordinate with inspectors as required.
• Lead gas-side setup on fireplace installations, including tie-ins, leak checks, and full commissioning.

Service & Diagnostics

• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and annual servicing on gas fireplaces and related systems.
• Provide clear recommendations to customers and the office on repair vs. replacement.

Job Documentation & Reporting

• Complete detailed reporting on every job: work performed, readings, photos, materials used, and follow-up actions.
• Ensure accurate time, materials, and notes so invoicing and job costing are clean and complete.

POS System & Workflow

• Review estimates, scope, and site notes before each job.
• Update work orders during/after the visit.
• Support finalized invoices and job close-out.
• Follow company procedures, including thorough documentation of each job.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

• Work with an apprentice on site—provide direction, coaching, and feedback.
• Coordinate daily with the office, who handle scheduling and routing.
• Partner with warehouse/parts to ensure you have the right materials staged and ready.

Safety, Vehicle & Tools

• Maintain a strong safety culture on every job (lockout, PPE, ladders/roof work, etc.).
• Keep the company vehicle and tools clean, organized, and ready for the next shift.

Qualifications

• Valid BC Gasfitter Class B (or A) certificate, in good standing.
• Typically 3–5+ years of residential gas fitting experience; fireplace experience is a strong asset.
• Solid understanding of gas codes, best practices, and permitting/inspection processes.
• Comfortable reading drawings, manuals, and installation instructions.
• Physically able to safely lift heavy appliances, work on ladders/roofs, and in confined spaces.
• Strong attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
• Confident with basic digital tools and ready to work inside a structured POS workflow.
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean record.
• WETT certification, or interest in obtaining it with our support, is an asset.
• Refrigeration (HVAC-R) certification is considered a strong asset.
• Professional, customer-focused mindset and a collaborative approach to working with apprentices and office personnel.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive hourly wage: $30–$40 per hour, depending on experience, tickets, and demonstrated capability.
• Full-time, year-round role (typically Monday–Friday, ~40 hours/week; overtime may be available in peak season).
• Three (3) weeks' vacation to start.
