Software Developer- Front End

**Job Title: Software Developer - Front End (Senior)

Location: Toronto, ON, CAN (Hybrid)

Duration: 4 Months (Possible Extension)
Client: Public Sector (Preferred)
Pay Rate: C$80-C$90/hr
Role Overview**

The Senior Front-End Software Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting a secure, accessibility-compliant web portal used by residents for online submissions. The role involves building modern Single Page Applications (SPAs), integrating with RESTful APIs, ensuring accessibility and privacy compliance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, user-focused digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and implement front-end software components for a public-facing web portal
• Enhance and maintain Single Page Applications using modern JavaScript frameworks
• Integrate front-end components with REST APIs (JSON/XML)
• Document technical specifications, architecture designs, and implementation details
• Support secure submission and handling of sensitive and confidential information
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues related to functionality, performance, and data integrity
• Perform root cause analysis during incidents or outages and recommend corrective actions
• Participate in sprint planning, effort estimation, and task prioritization
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with accessibility, privacy, and security standards
• Incorporate QA/UAT feedback and support release activities

Required Qualifications (Must-Have)

• 7+ years of experience

developing Single Page Applications using:
- HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap
- Front-end frameworks such as
React, Backbone, (Web Components)
- 7+ years of experience

working independently with minimal supervision on:
- Application architecture and integration
- Technical documentation and architecture diagrams
- Risk assessments and QA/UAT support
- Digital accessibility compliance
- 7+ years of experience

developing accessible digital products compliant with:
- WCAG 2.x AA
- AODA
- WAI-ARIA
- Strong experience with RESTful API integration
- Proven ability to support and maintain large-scale enterprise or public-sector applications

Additional Experience

• Experience performing unit, functional, integration, system, regression, and security testing
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in an Agile or hybrid delivery environment
• Ability to create user guides, technical documentation, and training materials

Education

• Post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related discipline
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
