Expertise Team Leader, Digital Studio

Your role, your impact
As an Expertise Team Lead, Digital Studio, and reporting to the Senior Director, Digital Studio, you'll play a key role in our web development team. Your mission will be to support the unit director, manage a team of approximately 4 to 6 employees, and act as technical lead and architecture guardian for our PHP/Drupal solutions.

Your in-depth technical expertise, commitment and collaborative leadership will enable you to ensure that the management main directorate and the vice-presidency meet Alithya's commitments to our clients. Alongside your team, you'll be responsible for successfully delivering robust digital solutions to the complete satisfaction of the client.

You'll play an expert digital advisor role by supporting the development team to promote our services and expertise in digital architecture and development.

Your day-to-day
Technical leadership and architecture (80%):

• Act as technical authority: transform functional objectives into pragmatic PHP/Drupal architecture decisions (Core, Contrib or Custom);
• Design and document application architectures, data models, workflows and integration strategies (API, SSO, CRM);
• Define performance (Varnish, CDN, Caching) and security strategies from the scoping phase onwards;
• Enforce a rigorous engineering framework (coding standards, systematic code reviews) to enable rapid iteration without compromising stability;
• Manage the software factory (CI/CD, environment/secret management) and critical production releases.

Team management (20%):

• Provide hierarchical and technical supervision (performance management, remuneration, assignments, absences and timesheets);
• Ensure the professional and personal development of your team and the achievement of their objectives, while maintaining a high level of motivation.

Innovation And Quality

• Ensure the quality, performance and responsiveness of applications;
• Identify and resolve complex bugs;
• Ensure compliance of deliverables (WCAG accessibility, technical SEO, GDPR);
• Work with the technology expertise directorate to develop the team's knowledge.

Communication And Collaboration

• Participate in meetings with clients and colleagues, and be the main point of contact for technical and management issues;
• Act as the lead technical expert when responding to requests for proposals (RFP/RFI): estimation, technical writing and presentation of solutions;
• Contribute to or create communities related to your Drupal/PHP expertise.

Professional Development

• Support employees in defining and monitoring their performance and career objectives through regular follow-up meetings.

Technology Watch

• Ensure the dissemination of technology watch within the team and the maintenance of technical reference documentation.

Keys to your success

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or a similar equivalency;
• Minimum 7 years of experience in web development, with significant experience (more than 3 years) as a technical lead or solutions architecture consultant;
• Solid experience with the Docker ecosystem (DDEV, Lando) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions);
• In-depth knowledge of Drupal 8/9/10/11 (custom module development, configuration management, API migration, Theme Layer);
• Proficiency in modern PHP and object-oriented concepts;
• Excellent knowledge of software architecture and the PHP/Drupal ecosystem;
• Good knowledge of decoupled architectures (RESTful/GraphQL) and web performance issues (Core Web Vitals);
• Knowledge of cloud hosting (AWS, Azure) or specialized PaaS (Acquia, Pantheon) and WAF/CDN platforms (Cloudflare);
• Attention to detail and ability to analyze, prioritize and delegate;
• Ability to synthesize complex technical concepts and explain them to non-technical clients;
• Inspiring leadership and ability to maintain a committed team;
• Excellent ability to communicate with and influence a delivery team, both verbally and in writing, in French and English.

Extra edge

• Acquia certification (Developer or Cloud);
• Experience in team management or formal mentoring;
• Experience with Atlassian suite tools (Jira, Confluence);
• Knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks (React, ) or ;
• Active participation in the Drupal community (module/theme contributions).

• English: Intermediate

Please note that due to the nature of the responsibilities of the position, an intermediate level of English is required, in particular to communicate on a regular basis with clients outside of Quebec.
