SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. has provided top-tier inspection services across the oil and gas, petrochemical, potash and power generation sectors in Western Canada since 2004. SUMMIT is seeking a skilled, experienced, and team-oriented candidate for the Full Time Certified Radiography Manager position. The working department manager will actively perform radiographic inspection while also managing and growing the department. They will play a key role on the operational direction, structure and staff development.

SHIFT AND LOCATION

  • This position will be based out of our Edmonton office and will require field work periodically.
  • Tentative Start date: on or before end of February 2026

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Department Management:

  • Assist with programs and procedures development
  • Analyze data to make strategic decisions and evaluate results
  • Coordinate with other departments to meet company objectives and support active projects
  • Organize and support the initial stages of new projects
  • Coordinate and oversee inspection projects
  • Organize and preparing fleet or upcoming projects
  • Understand local jurisdiction regulations in conducting job tasks
  • Communicate in an effective and professional manner when interacting with clients, suppliers and coworkers
  • Prepare reports for certifying/regulatory organization audits
  • Report equipment maintenance/repair issues in accordance with company procedures for corrective action
  • Maintain and calibrate RT equipment, ensuring it operates correctly and adheres to safety regulations.
  • Resolve client questions, concerns or complaints

Personnel Management:

  • Supervise NDT personnel
  • Train and evaluate technicians on skills, quality assurance and reporting
  • Mentor and provide guidance to assistant crew members
  • Take action on issues of non-conformity in quality
  • Review and approve reports

Field Work:

  • Conduct radiographic inspections using gamma-ray or X-ray equipment to detect defects in materials, parts, or structures, in a timely, effective and competent manner
  • Interpret or evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures
  • Precisely report on inspection activities and other operations, including logs for materials, exposure settings, and outcomes
  • Follow all safety regulations in regard to transportation, safe handling of exposure devices
  • Complete field sketches as required in accordance with approved procedures
  • Maintain and utilize the shared equipment effectively, minimizing and preventing damage
  • Perform the scope of work to completion and satisfaction of the client
  • Responsible to adhere to all safety regulations, standards and maintain safe work practices
  • Responsible to report any unsafe work activities, hazards or concerns

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • CGSB Radiography Level 2 - Current
  • Additional NDT (MT/UT/PT) certifications considered an asset
  • CEDO - Current
  • CR/DR experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience
  • Managerial Experience considered an asset
  • Previous RSO experience considered an asset
  • Experience with profile radiography and digital radiography
  • Experience with conventional radiography and able to produce high quality film subject to periodic audits
  • Must be competent with the Delta 880, SCAR and portable X-ray systems
  • Must be familiar with reading piping iso's, structural drawings, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate on assignments
  • Strong attention to detail required to provide thorough inspection observations
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
  • Must have strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to work at high elevations and confined spaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. unassisted and to operate inspection equipment and hand tools
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test prior to site deployment
    The following valid safety certifications are required prior to employment: H2S Alive, Emergency First Aid, Common Safety Orientation (CSO), Confined Space Entry and Rescue, and OSSA Fall Protection
