Technical Operator Overview

The Muskoka Roastery Coffee Company is located in Huntsville, Ontario. Our mission is to handcraft the best coffee – sustainably. We are embarking on a program of business growth, including geographic expansion and are hiring a Technical Operator.

The Technical Operator will be responsible for several key pieces of manufacturing equipment. This role reports to the Senior Roastery Manager.

The Muskoka Roastery always places a high value on finding a candidate who will fit into our operating culture and share our values and principles. We can provide the training necessary to build the required technical skill base, but the individual must bring passion, commitment to teamwork and dedication to quality to be a long-term solution.

Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day operation of our key pieces of equipment
  • Diagnose equipment failures, perform ad-hoc repairs, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Backup operator for all roastery equipment
  • Work collaboratively with the factory leaders, including Total Quality Manager to ensure conformance to all quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
  • Post secondary education, diploma or equivalent in a manufacturing or industrial discipline
  • Previous CPG industry experience an asset
  • Logical thinker with good common sense, ability to tackle challenges, trouble shoot, ideate and solve problems when challenges arise
  • Self-starter who owns personal objectives and takes initiative with an internal drive for excellence
  • Team player with a good work ethic and a positive "can do" attitude
  • Commitment to safety and process improvement
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy while working with urgency in a fast-paced environment

Other Requirements:

  • Monday through Friday 8 hr. shift – 11am-7pm
  • Occasional short notice overtime
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel
  • Some lifting of up to 50 pounds and periodic manual shifting of 150 pounds with supplementary equipment assistance
  • Capability to stand, stretch, lift, and bend
  • Certified to drive a forklift an asset
  • Able to multi-task during process intervals to maximize efficiency while maintaining quality focus
