We are currently seeking a
Planner
to join our Planning & Design team. This role supports pipeline and distribution projects through project review, technical design, and drafting activities. The successful candidate will work closely with Field Operations, Engineering, and project teams to produce accurate drawings, specifications, and project documentation in support of gas distribution and construction activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and collaborating with both office and field teams.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform project review and pipeline design/drafting duties related to gas distribution plant and construction projects
  • Analyze project requirements including piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment lists, and piping specifications in accordance with governing standards (ASME, CSA B137.4, CSA Z245.1, etc.)
  • Produce and revise working drawings, plans, schematics, overlays, and custom maps from design layouts, sketches, rough notes, and verbal instructions
  • Prepare material and equipment specification notes and perform material quantity calculations
  • Produce pipe and equipment layout drawings, isometric piping, assembly, and weldment drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software
  • Analyze and utilize survey and other technical data from multiple sources
  • Prepare and check material lists, perform design calculations, and ensure appropriate selection of materials and products
  • Identify opportunities to streamline drafting and design processes and workflows
  • Communicate regularly with Field Operations, team members, and management, including travel to field locations as required
  • Provide timely project updates for inclusion in monthly status reporting
  • Track and report project status using asset management software
  • Support pipeline integrity activities, including compression coupling investigations
  • Perform quality checks on created and existing drawings and records and report correction requirements
  • Support field staff with line picks, pre-engineering locates, and surveys as required

What We're Looking For

  • Post-secondary technologist certificate in drafting, engineering technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of related industry experience
  • Sound knowledge of systems operations, construction, and maintenance processes
  • Working knowledge of e-GIS, Bentley MicroStation, MS Visio, SpatialNET and/or Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure during peak workload periods
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Professional and courteous approach when dealing with internal and external stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Project Management Certificate or PMP designation
  • Pipeline inspection or construction field experience
  • Experience working with multiple data sources and technical standards
  • Intermediate ability to prepare formatted correspondence, reports, and charts

Pay Transparency Statement:

In accordance with Ontario's Pay Transparency requirements, the expected compensation range for this role is $65,000 – $75,000 annually, with the potential to offer up to $80,000 for candidates with exceptional experience and qualifications. Compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills, experience, and overall fit for the role.
