The County of Stettler No. 6 is currently seeking a motivated and experienced Supervisor - Road Maintenance to join our Operations team. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily maintenance of County roads and rights-of-way, including grader beats and roadside mowing operations.

The ideal candidate will be a skilled equipment operator who leads by example, demonstrates sound judgment in daily decision-making, and promotes a strong safety culture. This working supervisor will operate equipment alongside staff while ensuring that all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with County policies and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate grader and roadside mowing operations.
  • Operate heavy equipment (grader, mower, truck, dozer, scraper, track hoe, etc.) to support daily maintenance.
  • Plan and assign daily work, equipment, and routes for maintenance activities.
  • Conduct inspections of roads, ditches, and rights-of-way to identify maintenance needs.
  • Monitor work progress and adjust priorities as required.
  • Train, orient, and mentor staff in safe and effective work methods and equipment operation.
  • Conduct hazard assessments, safety meetings, and equipment inspections.
  • Prepare and submit reports, timesheets, and maintenance documentation.
  • Support construction or hauling projects as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in road construction and maintenance.
  • Two (2) years in a supervisory or lead hand role preferred.
  • Ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Valid Class 1 driver's licence.
