About the role

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Cloud Security Engineer to be our primary resource for security projects within our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and to serve as the main systems administrator for our local office and core IT operations.

This dual-focus role requires expertise in building and securing cloud environments while also maintaining the daily functionality, stability, and security of our general corporate IT systems.

What you'll do

  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure the GCP environment adheres to corporate security policies and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Vulnerability Management: Develop and maintain patching and vulnerability scanning processes for all cloud-based systems and services (Compute Engine, Kubernetes, Cloud Functions, etc.).
  • Incident Response: Serve as the primary point of contact for security incidents and anomalies detected within the Google Cloud environment, executing necessary containment and remediation steps.
  • Automation: Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform to automate the deployment and configuration of secure GCP infrastructure.
Systems Administration & Operations (30%)
  • SysAdmin Duties: Act as the main system administrator, managing corporate IT systems, including user accounts, identity and access management (IAM) systems, and endpoint security (laptops, workstations).
  • Network & Infrastructure: Manage and maintain local area networks (LAN), Wi-Fi, and VPN services in the Montreal office, ensuring high availability and secure connectivity to cloud resources.
  • Tooling & Support: Administer security and operations tooling (e.g., monitoring, logging, and SIEM platforms) and provide high-level technical support for complex IT issues for local staff.
  • Backup & Recovery: Develop, document, and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans for critical cloud and on-premise systems.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional experience in Information Security, Cloud Computing, or Systems Administration.
  • Hands-on expertise working with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services like IAM, Cloud Security Command Center, VPC Service Controls, and Cloud Logging/Monitoring.
  • Solid foundation in operating systems (Linux/Windows) and networking principles (TCP/IP, firewalls, routing).
  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) and managing infrastructure using Terraform or similar IaC tools.
  • Strong understanding of modern security frameworks, secure coding practices, and risk assessment methodologies.
