Job Summary

The Financial Aid Officer will play a vital role in guiding students through the financial aid process, ensuring they receive the support needed to pursue their educational goals. The ideal candidate is student-focused, detail-oriented, and well-versed in financial aid regulations. This role requires strong communication skills and a passion for helping students understand funding options, including scholarships, grants, and loans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise students on financial aid programs, procedures, and eligibility.
  • Assist students in completing their financial aid applications.
  • Review, evaluate, and process financial aid applications to determine eligibility.
  • Provide one-on-one counseling to discuss financial options, budgeting, and strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential financial aid records in compliance with institutional and government regulations.
  • Collaborate with departments such as Admissions, Student Services, and Academics to support student retention and success.
  • Stay current with changes to OSAP guidelines, financial aid regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Support students with scholarship and grant information as needed.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience with OSAP applications (required).
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Education, Business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of financial aid processes, compliance, and documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in financial aid software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Previous experience in higher education or student advising is an asset.
