Description:
We are seeking a seasoned engineering professional to provide
technical leadership
for utility-scale renewable power generation projects—including
solar, wind, and battery storage (BESS)
.
In this senior role, you will oversee
high-voltage (HV) electrical systems
and manage critical sub-components such as transmission lines and substations, ensuring seamless
interconnection to utility power grids
. Your expertise will drive
innovation, reliability, and compliance
in the development of next-generation renewable energy infrastructure.
What You'll Do
- Lead design, construction, and commissioning of HV systems; support Generator Interconnection Agreements (GIAs) with utilities, ISOs, and RTOs.
- Review and optimize HV/MV substation, collection, transmission line, and equipment specifications (transformers, breakers, switchgear, BESS, etc.).
- Conduct/review power system studies (power flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, protection coordination, grounding) ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
- Act as the
technical interface
between internal teams, EPC contractors, consultants, and equipment vendors. - Support procurement by developing bid packages, reviewing vendor submittals, and optimizing equipment sourcing.
- Provide expert oversight during construction and commissioning, including acceptance testing and integration.
- Contribute to project reporting and achievement tracking, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
Who You Are
- University degree in Engineering;
P.Eng. (Canada) or PE (US)
required, with preference for Electrical Engineering. - 8+ years of progressive technical and leadership experience (10–15 years preferred).
- Direct experience in
utility-scale power systems design, integration, and interconnection
across North American ISOs. - Strong mix of
field and office experience
. - Collaborative, value-driven mindset balancing technical rigor with cost, schedule, and lifecycle considerations.
- Excellent communication skills to lead cross-functional and external partner meetings.
- Valid driver's license (motor vehicle check required).
Working Conditions
- Office-based with some field work.
- Travel: ~10% (up to 25% during peak project phases).
