Role:

The Compliance Translator is responsible for translating and interpreting mostly English written material into French, but also vice-versa, reading material and understanding payment industry-specific terminology, and ensuring meaning and context is maintained throughout the translation. The translator plays a critical role in ensuring communications and documents in both French and English are equivalent and communicate the same message. The incumbent must ensure accuracy, quality and consistency of all of our communications and keep all material aligned on brand. The translator will be responsible for adapting mostly English material into French, providing timely translation services of internal and external communication correspondence, as well as of training documents and resources.  

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Translation from English into French and possibly French into English.

  • Write, improve, and adapt mostly English material into French such as internal and external communications, training material and letters.

  • Producing quality translations within given deadlines.

  • Perform other translation-related tasks such as proofreading.

  • Contribute to the terminology base. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.

  • Located in Montreal or Toronto and available to come to our offices when necessary. 

  • Minimum 3-5 years of translation experience 

  • Experience in the Business and Finance industries, Payment industry an asset.

  • Diploma/Degree in Translation, Linguistics, or equivalent.

  • Knowledge and understanding of payment industry terminology (an asset).

  • Experience with SDL Trados tool. 

  • Organizational skills and detail-orientation.

  • Excellent in all MS Office and GSuite.

  • Must be certified under the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ).

  • Able to work with little or no supervision.

  • Experience in Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE).
