Electro-mechanical Machine Assembler : Welding Equipment
Position Summary
The role requires precision, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills to ensure proper function and alignment of intricate components.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly and Alignment: Accurately fit and assemble mechanical parts, including servo motors, gears, bearings, pivot pins, ball screws, pneumatic/electric actuators, and sensors into the system according to detailed engineering blueprints and specifications.
- Reading Technical Documents: Interpret and follow complex mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and assembly instructions to plan the assembly sequence and ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Quality Control and Testing: Conduct in-process and final inspections and performance tests on assembled units using diagnostic equipment and measuring instruments to ensure all quality standards are met and the mechanism functions correctly.
- Troubleshooting and Rework: Identify and troubleshoot assembly issues or non-conformities at the component and subassembly level. Rework or repair defective units as needed to meet quality requirements.
- Tool and Equipment Use: Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, specialized assembly equipment, and precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, multimeters) safely and effectively.
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of assembly activities, test results, repairs, and inventory to ensure traceability and support quality assurance processes.
- Safety and Maintenance: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines, maintain a clean and organized work area, and perform routine maintenance on assembly equipment and tools.
- Collaboration and Improvement: Work with engineers and other team members to provide feedback on assembly processes, resolve issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing and design.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, power transmission, and the interaction of components like gears, bearings, and pivot pins.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to apply knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, basic electrical principles (for the motor component), and control systems.
- Precision and Attention to Detail: A high level of precision and attention to detail to achieve tight tolerances and ensure proper fit and alignment of components.
- Manual Dexterity and Hand-Eye Coordination: Proficiency in handling small, intricate parts and using various hand tools with precision.
- Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to diagnose faults, determine the root cause of issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Blueprint and Schematic Reading: Capability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics accurately.
- Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication to follow instructions, document findings, and collaborate with team members and engineers.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to handle changing priorities, procedures, or designs in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years in a similar assembly environment
- A technical diploma or degree
- Proven mechanical and electronics aptitude
- Attention to detail and organized
- Basic knowledge of fabrication and assembly drawings
- Must be adaptable to changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
- Punctual and reliable
Location is in Waterloo and hours of work are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
