Islamic School Homeroom Teacher

SNMC Albushra Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Homeroom Teacher to join our growing school community. The ideal candidate brings strong classroom experience, a deep commitment to Islamic values, and a genuine love for nurturing young learners. The Homeroom Teacher will be responsible for creating a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment, guiding students academically and spiritually, and working closely with parents and school staff to support each child's growth and success.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment.
- International students are not eligible.
- Possess a valid social insurance number (SIN) at the start of employment.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada according to provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Ontario curriculum standards and Al Bushra's vision and values.
- Teach a full range of subject areas, including English, Islamic studies, mathematics, science, social studies, and more.
- Conduct formal and informal assessments of students, including report cards, progress reports and marking.
- Establish a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment reflective of the school's values.
- Tailor lessons to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and educational initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- An undergraduate post-secondary degree (Bachelor's or equivalent)
- Experience in an educational setting
- Passion for teaching and motivating students in an Islamic educational setting.
- Ability to plan, assess, and adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Willingness to contribute positively to school culture and shared goals
- Strong sense of teamwork, flexibility, and mutual support among staff
- Demonstrated ability to create an inclusive, equitable, and student-centered school environment
- Knowledge of Islamic teachings, and values
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check and First Aid/CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
- A valid teaching certificate
- Experience in Islamic education, weekend/after-school programs, or Islamic schools
- A master's degree in educational or a related field
