Job Description
About CCHOHT:
The Connected Care Halton Ontario Health Team (CCHOHT) is one of the first OHT teams in the province that is working to implement a new model of organizing and delivering health care that better connects patients and providers in their communities to improve patient outcomes. The Ontario Health Team (OHT) model is part of the Ontario Ministry of Health's (MOH) health system transformation strategy. The CCHOHT is guided by a Collaborative Committee with representatives from Halton Healthcare, Halton Region, Ontario Health at Home, Physicians, PFAC and Community Organizations.
This position is funded by Ontario Health and will report jointly to the Executive Director, Connected Care Ontario Health Team and the Manager, Communications and Public Affairs at Halton Healthcare. While this role will primarily provide strategic communications support to the CCHOHT, the successful candidate will work closely with the Halton Healthcare Communications and Public Affairs team to access resources, training and a supportive team-based environment.
As part of Halton Healthcare Services Communications and Public Affairs team, the Senior Communications Consultant is responsible for developing, coordinating and executing internal and external communications plans in support of hospital programs and services and health information and education as it aligns to the strategic plan and priorities of the organization. This position is also responsible for contributing to the corporate reputation program and supporting the implementation of the organization's strategic plan. The Senior Communications Consultant provides communications counsel and service to a portfolio of departments and programs, including but not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the executive to support priority initiatives.
- Develop strategic and operational communications plans for CCHOHT.
- Create and execute campaigns and events in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (including work back schedules, budgets and performance measure) to support the effective and efficient execution of communications strategies and plans.
- Provide strategic counsel and advice on various issues to executives and senior program leaders.
- Proactively identify issues, potentially negative and/or positive, that may have an impact on the organization's reputation or relationships and develop strategies manage the impact including preparation of messaging/ positioning statements.
- Identify emerging trends and their impact or opportunity for the organization.
- Work closely with clients partners (including attending department meetings/committees).
- Ensure the integration of communications strategies and plans across the organization.
- Provide support to corporate initiatives as assigned/identified.
- Act as a communications resource to the executive leads.
- Write key messages, stories, speeches, presentation materials, opinion pieces, briefing notes, advertising copy, social media, media releases and other communications materials for client portfolio.
- Manage and coordinate production of various communications tactics.
- Oversee and maintain CCHOHT social media calendar and channels, posting regular updates, monitoring engagement, responding to comments and messages in a prompt and professional manner, and ensuring consistency with brand voice and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree program in a related field (Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Affairs) or recognized equivalent, e.g., bachelor's degree with a public relations/communications diploma from a recognized community college.
- Minimum of five (5) to 7 years of work experience as a communications strategist and generalist in a public affairs and communications environment. A minimum of 2 years working experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not required.
- Solid knowledge of marketing and public relations principles and practices. Strong media relations skills and working knowledge of print, broadcast, online and social media.
- Superior writing and editing skills with the ability to take complex and clinical information and quickly translate it into compelling messages to reach a variety of audiences. Demonstrated experience in writing strategic communications plans, speeches, content for publications and promotional materials, etc.
- Highly developed project management skills.
- Highly articulate with strong verbal communications and presentation skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and judgement skills.
- Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization in a fast-paced, high profile, deadline-oriented environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external partners.
- Experience working with a variety of technologies and platforms including social media, website and intranet content development and management.
- Demonstrated experience championing best practices in communications.

Salary: $48.746 to $60.393
