NATURE OF WORK

We are looking for a Taxation and Revenues Agent for a temporary position of undetermined period. Work consists of performing a variety of administrative or operational tasks to ensure the imposition, collection, encashment and refund, if applicable, of various taxes and other revenues.

EXAMPLES OF TASKS PERFORMED

  • Receives, imports and captures the assessment roll for properties located on the territory of the Town of Mount Royal, from the City of Montreal Assessment Service.
  • Receives, imports and captures certificates of assessment amending the assessment roll for properties located on the territory of the Town of Mount Royal, from the City of Montreal Assessment Service.
  • Prepares and transmits, to the City of Montreal evaluator, a list of the changes to be made to the assessment roll, with a copy to the parties concerned.
  • Reconciles the evaluation role and ensures that all changes are properly recorded.
  • Prepares and issues annual and supplementary tax accounts; property, business, and water meters as well as updating accurate summaries of tax accounts and collection rolls.
  • Prepares and issues the accounts for the transfer tax.
  • Prepares and issues accounts for various invoices.

REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Hold a DVS in Accounting (or any other area deemed relevant).
  • Possess four (4) years of experience in a job allowing the incumbent to familiarize himself / herself with the field of employment.

QUALITIES

Good knowledge

  • Chapters of the Municipal Taxation Act relevant to the workplace.

Knowledge

  • Spoken and written French and English*;
  • Taxation methods and procedures.

  • Knowledge of English is a requirement due to potential interactions with the Town's citizens.

Skills or abilities

  • Good sense of customer service;
  • Ability to observe and record information;
  • Perform simple calculations;
  • Exercise good judgment, initiative, tact and courtesy;
  • Read and analyze documents relevant to the work;
  • Work under pressure.
CONDITIONS
