Job Description:
A developer is an integral member of the team responsible for maintaining Leonardo business applications, producing high-quality software with "Just-Enough" complexity and always searching for simplicity. Developers are expected to have a proactive and active role, taking ownership of Leonardo products and having a security mindset. The job duties include:

  • 50% Coding – As a professional developer, your primary responsibility is writing quality software. Understanding the costs involved with software defects, you will be conscientious about producing defect free software. Knowing that code is usually written once and changed often, it is important that your code is easy to understand by fellow developers, follows coding standards, and structured in a way that promotes simplicity and reuse. Security and risk mitigation should be always taken into consideration when developing software.
  • 30% Customer Satisfaction – As part of the Development Team, it is everyone's responsibility to maintain the satisfaction of our customers by solving incidents in a faster and timely manner with a focus in identifying and fixing the root causes of problems faced by our customer.
  • 15% Providing Product Direction – While developing code for our products, your insight into the tools and existing code available is valuable in the creation of our products. Sharing this with your team will result in better products and services for our customers. This will consist of investigation, brainstorming sessions and providing feedback on products to your team. You are also expected to actively seek out new software, practices, and tools that will add value to our products.
  • 5% Training – As a member of the Development Team, you will be asked on occasion to provide formal and informal training in your area of expertise internally to the team as well as possibly to another team within Leonardo.

Qualifications:
This job requires the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience in Software Development.
  • 3+ years' experience developing Java, MySQL, JBoss, PHP, Perl, JSP, JavaScript, Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ and React relational databases (MySQL).
  • Experience in multi-tiered software development.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce functional applications.
  • Understanding and acceptance of Agile software development practices.
  • Understanding and acceptance that business software is maintained over time and clarity and simplicity of code is of utmost importance, this is a pivotal development philosophy at Leonardo.
