Description:

The Avionics Technician to be responsible for performing maintenance, service and repairs on Aircraft Aviation systems. All work must meet company standards and TC regulatory requirements. Other key responsibilities include:

What you will be responsible for:

  • Repair, overhaul, install, calibrate and test aircraft instruments;
  • Repair, overhaul, install, modify and test electrical aircraft systems and equipment;
  • Search for breakdowns, repair, overhaul, test, install and inspect avionics systems and electronic components of aircraft, including communications, navigation, autopilot, Pitot static, entertainment, radar, AC & DC power distribution and lighting equipment;
  • Certify that the installation, maintenance, repair and overhaul work meet performance and safety standards of transport Canada and AAR;
  • Manage installation and service projects as assigned by the Supervisor;
  • Compile work orders, inspections, repair and overhaul documentation in work records;
  • Responsible for traceability on parts issued from stores to assigned job tasks;
  • Report unserviceable maintenance equipment and tools;
  • Report unsafe or unapproved work conditions and practices to department Supervisor;
  • Attend training courses and Type Endorsements on multiple plane types;
  • Any additional duties and projects as assigned;
  • Actively participate in AAR Windsor's Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting safety hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understands and promotes the company safety policy

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Knowledge of Avionics components and associated aircraft systems;
  • Experience on one or more of these aircraft types an asset – Embraer 170/175, 737 NG or 737 Max;
  • Proven ability to liaise with other Company personnel and outside agencies;
  • Must have a good understanding of avionics systems, components and aircraft;
  • Extensive knowledge of all documentation and processes related to Transport Canada regulations and any other Approve Authority;
  • Excellent communication and organization skills & attention to detail;
  • Flexibility to work shift work and overtime;
  • First Aid Certified or able to be trained;
  • Must have own tools

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Daily work activities are performed on the hangar floor;
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs;
  • Shift work;
  • Ability to continuously stand/walk while performing work. Lifting/pulling/pushing up to 50 lbs to accomplish certain tasks/repairs.
  • Overtime may be required;
  • Utilizing computers to look up manual references and parts.
