Senior Lifeguard - Full Time 40 hours/week

Wage Range: $ $31.87/hour

(varied schedule including days, evenings and weekends required)

SUMMARY

The Senior Lifeguard supports a safe and enjoyable aquatic centre experience for all users by assuming a leadership role among other lifeguards. This role models and encourages positive customer driven team dynamics to offer quality programs and oversee daily maintenance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lifeguarding and Aquatics Programs
  • Provides the highest standard in lifeguarding and safety supervision
  • Prevents injuries by providing public education, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment and responding to emergency situations
  • Plans, instructs and evaluates swim lessons, advanced programs and water fitness classes

  • Interpersonal Relations

· Responds professionally to both internal employee and external customer concerns and inquiries

· Mentors, coaches, develops and leads lifeguard instructors and volunteers

  • Maintenance
  • Performs opening and closing procedures
  • Conducts routine safety inspections and checks
  • Conducts water testing, water balancing, and assists with maintenance and controls of the pool such as chemical feed equipment minor repairs, backwashing and pulsar systems and operational emergencies
  • Ensures cleanliness of the swimming pool area, locker rooms, washrooms, staff areas
  • Administration
  • Prepares and submits administrative reports as required
  • Audits swim lessons and programs as required
  • Participates and assists in planning scheduled in-service training, staff meetings
  • Maintains aquatic and safety certifications and awards

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS – VALID UPON APPLICATION

· Minimum Grade 12/18 years of age

· Minimum 2 years experience as a Lifeguard Instructor

· National Lifeguard

· Swim Instructor

· Pool Operator 1

· Standard First Aid and CPR C

· Youth Leader

· Water Fitness Instructor

· Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License

· RCMP based Vulnerable Sector Check
