This position is part of the Connect 6ix project. Toronto's new Ontario Line subway is now under construction. The Connect 6ix consortium has a key role in this project, delivering the trains, the signaling system, and the operations, storage, and maintenance facility. Connect 6ix will also operate the Ontario Line for a 30-year term once it comes into service.
The role is Full-time 100% onsite position at our downtown office.
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. As an HR Business Partner, you will provide advice to leadership regarding best practices to maximize employee efficiencies. You will champion a diverse workforce throughout the employee life cycle. You will foster a culture of continuous improvement through performance management.
Role and General Responsibilities
- Consult with line management and provide daily HR guidance.
- Analyze trends and metrics with the HR department.
- Resolve complex employee relations issues and address grievances.
- Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention.
- Monitor and report on workforce and succession planning.
- Work on ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Maintain relationships with employees and managers.
- Participate in the continual development of HR programs, such as recruiting retention, compensation, benefits, and Learning & Development.
- Maintain communication with Human Resources department from respective Partners.
- Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contributes to the development of policies.
- Assist with project initiatives, such as Lunch and Learns
- Conduct weekly or bi-weekly meetings with business leaders and provide HR advice where necessary.
- Be up to date on employment laws and regulations, as well as other legal requirements regarding people management, to help leaders ensure compliance.
- Provide guidance on the creation and implementation of HR processes and policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business, or a related field
- Additional HR training or experience is a plus
- A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience required
- Knowledge of the Construction industry is preferred
- CHRP/CHRL designation is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ethics
- Resourceful, problem-solving attitude and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Excel, HRIS systems.
- Able to adapt quickly using new technical systems as needed
