The Opportunity:
As a Fire Alarm Designer y
ou will assist with the preparation of engineering drawings and specification for fire protection alarm systems. Additional tasks include assistance with building and fire code analysis review and compliance. As a designer with us, you'll be part of our growing team, using your skills to design and partner on major Infrastructure projects in Canada.

What you can expect to do here:

• Assist with the design of automatic fire alarm systems
• Coordinate with the project team, external vendors, other engineers and architects, while implementing design modifications as necessary.
• Execute directions as provided by engineers and management.
• Gather appropriate resources in order to assist in problem solving.
• Communicate engineering design concepts professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Occasional local travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements

What you'll bring to WSP:

• Related Bachelor of Engineering degree or Engineering Technology diploma.
• 0-3 years of fire protection and life safety experience
• Knowledge of REVIT and AutoCAD
• Basic knowledge and understanding of NFPA, FM Global, Building and Fire Code Standards.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• French language proficiency is an asset.
• A working knowledge of hydraulic calculation software is an asset.

To qualify for this role, you must be eligible for Canadian Federal Government Enhanced Reliability clearance. This is a mandatory requirement to work with some of our clients.
