1 year contract
who wants more than just month-end close. This is a hands-on leadership role with real influence — overseeing finance and administration, partnering with senior leaders, and helping shape how the business makes decisions.If you enjoy turning numbers into insight, leading people, and improving systems in a fast-moving operational environment, this role offers both scope and visibility.Why this role stands outLead the Finance & Administration functionBe a trusted advisor to the Controller and senior leadershipDrive costing, pricing, and operational KPIs that directly impact the businessPlay a key role in group-wide system implementations and projectsManage and mentor a finance team in a collaborative environmentWhat you'll be responsible forFinancial leadership & reportingOwn local accounting and month-end reporting, ensuring accuracy and timelinessSupport audits, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modelingDevelop costing models and pricing support for operational leadersBuild business cases for capital and special projectsPartner closely with department managers to provide clear financial insightProjects & systemsLead and act as SME on group initiatives (e.g., expense management)Support new finance system implementations and continuous improvement projectsCollaborate with SSA Marine Canada on cross-group initiativesPeople leadershipLead and develop the billing, payroll, and accounting support teamsOversee union payroll, year-end adjustments, and reconciliationsProvide coaching, mentoring, and day-to-day guidance to ensure a high-performing teamControls & governanceMaintain and improve internal control policies and documentationAct as a go-to resource for finance and administrative inquiries across the businessWhat we're looking forBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business (CPA is a strong asset)5+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting3+ years in a leadership or supervisory roleStrong cost accounting, financial modeling, and forecasting skillsAdvanced Excel skills (pivots, lookups, formulas)Experience in logistics, transportation, or a complex operational environment is an assetWhat will make you successful hereYou're a strong people leader who enjoys developing othersYou communicate clearly and build trust across teamsYou're comfortable balancing strategy with hands-on workYou thrive in a changing environment and enjoy solving complex problemsYou bring sound judgment, discretion, and a high degree of professionalismWhat you can expectA leadership role with real impact and visibilityExposure to group-level initiatives and senior decision-makingA collaborative team culture where your expertise is valuedOpportunities to influence systems, processes, and how the business operates
