Canpac's team of skilled Mariners, Commercial Divers, Observation/Work Class ROV and Trenching pilots, and marine construction specialists support complex projects that require technical expertise, even in the most challenging environments.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Welding Foreman to lead and coordinate welding and fitting activities on marine and structural projects. The successful candidate will provide hands-on supervision, ensure work is completed safely and to specification, and support quality control while mentoring crew members. This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, and a proactive approach to safety and planning.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily welding and fitting activities on marine and structural projects.
- Lead, mentor, and support welders and fitters to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to guide fabrication and installation.
- Perform and oversee welding using MIG, TIG, and stick processes as required.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct quality control checks and resolve fabrication or fit-up issues as they arise.
- Coordinate with project supervisors, engineers, and other trades to meet project schedules.
- Ensure welding equipment, tools, and work areas are maintained in a safe and organized condition.
- Participate in job planning, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current CWB All-Position welding ticket required.
- Proven experience in a Welding Foreman or Lead Welder role, preferably in the marine or heavy industrial sector.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- In-depth knowledge of welding techniques and metal fabrication processes.
- ABS weld certification is an asset but not required.
- Confined Space Entry training is an asset.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor and confined spaces.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials as required.
- A valid passport may be required, as work may be performed offshore or while the vessel is operating at sea.
