Hematologist - Malignant Hematology - Lymphoma ProgramDescriptionThe Department of Medicine and the Division of Hematology (Ottawa Blood Disease Centre) at the University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital are looking for a locum hematologist to provide coverage during an upcoming temporary leave within our lymphoma program from Apr 1, 2026 to Jan 31, 2027.The Division of Hematology (The Ottawa Blood Disease Centre) is a large group of 43 faculty that work within a group practice plan model within the University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital academic centre. The Division has three well-defined and successful clinical and research programs: Malignant Hematology, Thrombosis and Benign Hematology. All faculty in the Hematology Division are co-located at the General Campus of The Ottawa Hospital.The lymphoproliferative group currently consists of 7 faculty who see >600 new lymphoma and CLL patients per year, offers a clinical lymphoma fellowship program, and conducts a mix of clinical research activities. The Lymphoproliferative Disease Group partners with the Transplant and Cell Therapy program to provide hematopoietic cell transplants and immune effector cell therapies, with both commercial and research product activity.Academically, the division and department support undergraduate and postgraduate training, including subspecialty fellowship trainees in all three of our programs. Members have access to research services through the Office of Research Support and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute houses experts in broad areas of clinical epidemiology, statistical support, transfusion medicine research, patient decision-making, and knowledge translation. While a specific area of interest within lymphoproliferative disorders is welcome, the successful candidate will see a mix of lymphoma patients in their clinics. Inpatient and outpatient care is provided primarily at the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus; an additional half-day clinic per week is held at the Irving Greenberg Cancer Centre, at the Queensway Carleton Hospital. As part of practicing in an academic setting, the incumbent will participate in training and supervision of trainees and the divisional on-call rotation schedule.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have expertise in lymphoproliferative disorders. The position is within Ontario's Alternate Funding Plan for malignant hematologists (POAFP) and remuneration is competitive nationally.The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; be a member of, or be eligible to be a member of, the Canadian Medical Protective Association; have, or be eligible for certification in Hematology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have, or be eligible for, licensure in Ontario. The successful candidate will be eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of an Assistant Professor or higher at the University of Ottawa.
