Overview

Persia Foods is a family-run grocery business serving the lower mainland for 30 years. We focus on great prices, fresh products, and high volumes, with a strong emphasis on produce, international foods, and everyday staples. We are growing and modernizing our stores while keeping a market-style, people-first culture.

We're looking for a hands-on Grocery Manager who can run the grocery department like a business - owning purchasing, inventory, standards, staff, and results.

The Role

The Grocery Manager is responsible for the day-to-day performance of the grocery department across our 8 stores, including dry goods, frozen, refrigerated, and packaged foods. This is an operational leadership role.

You will manage people, inventory, merchandising, and execution while working closely with store leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Inventory

  • Own ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotation (FIFO)
  • Maintain accurate inventory and minimize shrink, damage, and out-of-stocks
  • Ensure pricing, signage, and promotions are correctly executed
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe back-of-house and sales floor

Merchandising & Sales

  • Keep shelves full, faced, and shoppable at all times
  • Execute planograms, seasonal sets, and promotional displays
  • Identify slow-moving SKUs and opportunities to improve sell-through
  • Support private-label and value-driven product initiatives

People Leadership

  • Train and supervise grocery staff
  • Coach staff on stocking standards, rotation, and efficiency
  • Address performance issues quickly and fairly

Standards & Systems

  • Follow food safety, health, and company SOPs
  • Work with POS and inventory systems accurately
  • Communicate issues, shortages, or risks early
  • Participate in store walkthroughs and improvement plans

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • Clear communicator and a good negotiator, able to work with vendors to secure great pricing
  • Creative, trend-forward thinking
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets and pricing, margins, able to learn POS/WMS systems

Nice to Have

  • Experience as a Grocery Manager, Assistant Manager, or Senior Department Lead
  • Passion for food and cooking
  • Understanding of grocery operations and inventory flow
  • Experience in high-volume or value-focused grocery stores
  • Familiarity with international or ethnic grocery assortments

  • Shelves consistently full, clean, and well-organized
  • Reduced shrink and fewer out-of-stock situations
  • Improved purchasing through contracts and negotiations
  • Staff know expectations and execute without constant supervision
  • Pricing and signage errors are rare
