As a Dietitian, you'll be a key part of an interdisciplinary team, working along side Physicians, Nurses, and other Allied Health Professionals to meet the diverse needs of the patients and residents serve.
What you will do
- Evaluates nutritional status/risk of patients/residents and develops/prescribes, implements, evaluates (initial and ongoing), and documents an appropriate nutritional care plan; collaborates and provides direction to nutrition staff as the plan is implemented with the patient/resident.
- Contributes to an inter-disciplinary approach to patient/resident care and program related issues by attending ward rounds and team conferences to exchange information related to patient/resident care and discharge planning.
- Instructs and/or counsels patients/residents and family members in nutritional issues such as diet modifications and lifestyle changes.
- Determines, refers and/or liaises with community based nutritional resources as required to ensure that patient/resident care issues are addressed.
- Participates in quality improvement activities by providing input into the development, implementation, and evaluation of written procedures and standards, assessment forms, and patient/resident materials, program descriptions, audit tools and clinical guidelines for Nutrition Services and relevant clinical programs.
- Completes required patient/resident documentation, forms and reports and documents workload statistics.
- Collaborates with departmental and other team members to organize in-service education, to identify the need for and to participate in educational programs by preparing educational materials and making presentations.
- Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition from a recognized University. Dietetic internship from an accredited program. Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).Restricted Activities A, B, & /or C may be required as listed on the posting.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with and deal effectively with, patients/residents, families, staff, physicians, and other health care providers.Knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures related to healthcare.Demonstrated ability to conduct patient/resident assessments.Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient/resident care.Demonstrated ability to draw out information that will contribute to understanding the patient/resident's situation in order to explore issues beyond the initial concerns.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
