About Us

J.M. Robins Construction Ltd is a well-established residential construction company specializing in custom homes, garden homes, townhomes, and attached residential developments throughout the Sussex to Saint John corridor. We're known for quality construction and working closely with clients to bring their dream homes to life.

We're experiencing strong growth and need a talented residential draftsperson to create the permit-ready blueprints that bring our clients' visions to reality.

Key Responsibilities

· Create permit-ready residential blueprints using AutoCAD and/or Revit

· Develop construction documentation from concept sketches and client consultations

· Produce complete drawing sets: site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, details

· Ensure designs comply with National Building Code and local municipal requirements

· Coordinate with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers

· Collaborate with ownership, clients, Director of Brand Development, and Project Manager on design development

· Manage 2-4 residential projects simultaneously at various stages

· Revise plans based on client feedback, permit comments, and field conditions

· Attend client meetings to understand design requirements and preferences

· Maintain organized project files and documentation

· Stay current on building codes and residential design trends

What We're Looking For

REQUIRED:

· Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit (must be expert-level with at least one)

· Minimum 3-5 years of residential drafting experience

· Proven experience creating permit-ready construction drawings

· Strong understanding of residential building codes (National Building Code)

· Knowledge of residential construction methods and materials

· Experience coordinating with engineers and consultants

· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

· Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects simultaneously

· Effective communication skills (written and verbal) for client and team interaction

· Self-motivated and able to work independently

· Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (occasional site visits)

NICE TO HAVE:

· Architectural Technology diploma or related education

· Experience with Chief Architect or other residential design software

· Knowledge of energy efficiency and building envelope design

· Familiarity with multi-unit residential projects (townhomes, duplexes)

· Experience with accessibility requirements and universal design

· Understanding of construction sequencing and site logistics

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00-$32.00 per hour
