Job Description
What is the opportunity?
Join our Loss Mitigation team as a Summer Analyst and gain hands-on experience in minimizing financial risks and optimizing collections strategies. This role is ideal for students passionate about finance, analytics, and problem-solving, offering exposure to cross-functional collaboration and data-driven decision-making.
What you will do?
- Analyze trends in financial losses, delinquencies, or risk exposures using quantitative tools.
- Assist in developing and implementing strategies to mitigate losses and improve recovery processes.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Support senior team members in evaluating risk models, policy adherence, and workflow efficiencies.
- Collaborate with teams (e.g., Risk Management, Operations) to resolve issues and streamline procedures.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning
- Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment
- Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
- Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast paced environment
- Experience in data analysis/visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau)
- Ability to data extract, transform, and load processes with a variety of data types
- Ability to perform complex data analysis on large volumes of data and present findings to stakeholders
- Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
Nice-to-have
- Relational database concepts and design experience
- Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge
Please note:
This posting is for a 4-months Summer 2026 Student placement with a start date of May 2026, and end date of August 2026. In order to be eligible for this 4-months Student position, you must either:
- Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of August 2026 ; or
- If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in August 2026), you must require the full 4-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
