Afterschool Nanny / Family Assistant (Part-Time)

Monday–Thursday | 4:00–7:00 PM

We are a warm, organized family seeking a reliable and caring Afterschool Nanny / Family Assistant to support our three school-aged children during weekday afternoons and early evenings.

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working with children, is comfortable with light cooking, and is looking for a consistent, longer-term position through the school year.

Responsibilities

• School pick-up and safe transportation of children
• Afterschool supervision and general childcare
• Assisting with homework and school organization
• Preparing snacks and making dinner for the family (simple, healthy meals)
• Creating a calm, structured afterschool routine
• Tidying up after meals and children's activities as needed

Schedule

• Monday to Thursday
• Approximately 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
• End time may need to be adjusted on some night, if parents running late from work
• Consistent weekly hours during the school year

Strong preference for candidates able to commit through the 2026–2027 school year

Requirements

• Previous childcare experience (nannying, babysitting, education, ECE, camp counsellor, etc.)
• Comfortable cooking family dinners; basic meal planning and kitchen skills required
• Valid driver's license
• Comfortable driving either:
• Your own vehicle (mileage reimbursed), or
• A provided family vehicle
• Reliable, punctual, and organized
• Able to manage multiple children with patience and confidence
• Non-smoker
• Strong communication skills

Screening & Safety

• Police Vulnerable Sector Check required (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Professional and/or childcare references required
• CPR / First Aid certification considered an asset

Compensation & Employment

• Competitive hourly wage, based on experience
• Paid on payroll (not a cash position)
• Mileage reimbursement if using personal vehicle

Location

• Doon South area, Kitchener (school is approximately 15min drive from home)
