In this role, you will not only design, develop, and implement airfield lighting systems but also lead a team of engineers and coordinate across multiple disciplines. This position requires a blend of advanced technical expertise in aviation lighting and strong leadership skills to ensure safe, compliant, and innovative airfield operations.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of AGL design engineers, ensuring high-quality deliverables and continuous professional development.
  • Coordinate team efforts, set performance goals, and oversee resource allocation across multiple projects.
  • Drive the design of comprehensive airfield lighting systems, including runway, taxiway, approach, and apron lighting.
  • Oversee the development of detailed electrical schematics, lighting layouts, and power distribution plans.
  • Conduct photometric calculations and analyses to guarantee compliance with ICAO, FAA, and local aviation authority standards.

  • Review and approve technical specifications and design documentation for AGL equipment such as constant current regulators, transformers, and lighting fixtures.

  • Lead design review sessions and quality verification processes to ensure adherence to project timelines and safety standards.
  • Oversee the integration of AGL systems with other airport infrastructure in collaboration with civil, electrical, and communications engineers.
  • Manage contractor submittals, RFIs, and design modifications during the construction phase.
  • Supervise site surveys and inspections to ensure installations meet design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership during the commissioning and testing phases of AGL systems.
  • Develop strategic plans for both new installations and the rehabilitation of existing airfield lighting systems, incorporating sustainable and energy-efficient technologies.
  • Engage in stakeholder meetings, providing updates and ensuring that project objectives align with overall aviation infrastructure goals.

What do we need from you

  • Experience in airfield lighting design or related aviation systems, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
  • A Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated expertise in aviation standards including ICAO Annex 14, FAA Advisory Circulars (particularly 150/5340 series), and EASA regulations.
  • Proficiency with electrical design software, CAD tools, and lighting calculation applications.
  • Strong communication, project management, and strategic planning skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Proven track record in leading engineering teams and managing large-scale aviation projects.
  • Experience with both new airport developments and the rehabilitation of existing airfield lighting systems.
  • Knowledge of sustainable lighting practices and energy-efficient LED technologies.
  • Familiarity with construction methodologies, underground power systems, and series circuit design calculations.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.
