About the Role

Seeking a dedicated, flexible, and reliable full-time Substitute Teacher to support our vibrant daycare and elementary school community. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, thrives in a dynamic environment, and can adapt to different classrooms and teaching needs each day.

The Substitute Teacher will be scheduled daily and placed where needed across the school to support student learning and classroom management.

Key Responsibilities

Provide classroom coverage for teachers in daycare and elementary school.

Follow lesson plans, routines, and expectations set by the classroom teacher

Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment

Support students' academic, social, and emotional needs

Supervise students during recess, lunch, transitions, and other non-instructional times

Communicate effectively with teachers and school leadership

Adapt quickly to different grade levels, subjects, and classroom structures

Uphold school values, policies, and expectations

Assist with additional school duties as needed throughout the day

Qualifications

Experience working with children (school, camp, tutoring, childcare, etc.) — required

Previous classroom or substitute teaching experience — an asset

Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills

Ability to confidently manage groups of students across all grade levels in daycare and elementary school.

Reliable, punctual, and consistent

Flexible and comfortable working in different environments each day

Positive, professional, and warm demeanour

A love for children and commitment to their growth and well-being

Position Details

Hours: 8:45 AM – 4:00 PM (Monday–Friday)

Compensation: $21 per hour

Start Date: Immediate

Location: Hamilton Hebrew Academy, Hamilton, ON
