Overview

Fusion Underground is seeking a laborer with construction experience to join our underground electrical distribution and shallow utilities team. You will assist with the installation, repair, and modification of shallow utility systems, including trenching, cable and conduit placement, backfilling, and site restoration with the potential to operate compact track loaders as your skills develop. Previous experience in Underground Electrical Distribution Systems or Underground Residential Distribution is a bonus but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • Assist operators with excavation and backfilling for shallow utilities
  • Assist with the installation of precast concrete bases
  • Assist with the installation of electrical and telecom cabinets, pedestals, vaults, and their applicable grounding systems
  • Operate hand tools and basic equipment (shovels, tampers, saws, etc.)
  • Support machine operators and crew leads in daily tasks
  • Handle materials such as conduit, cable, sand, gravel, and utility components
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and instructions from supervisors
  • Perform general labor duties as required to support project needs

Qualifications

  • Previous construction or utility labor experience is an asset but not required
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting, digging, standing for long periods)
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to follow standards and work processes
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
  • Safety certifications (First Aid, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, CSTS, etc.) are an asset
