Job Description: Industrial Sewing Machine Operator

Role

The Candidates for the above role are responsible for pulling materials, setting up machines and sewing all products that Blake Medical carries

Job Summary

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

· Day shift 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday (8hour shifts). Times subject to change

· Overtime where required

· Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, repetitive tasks, physically demanding, manual dexterity, attention to detail, positive attitude.

· Must be able to sit for 8 hours a day

· Ability to meet physical demands, including reaching, sitting for long periods, and performing repetitive actions throughout the shift, with the ability to occasionally lift up 30lbs

· Expect to receive exposure and training in all aspects of the sewing production and hands on experience with the full range of our equipment.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Operate Industrial Sewing Machines to assemble textile related products

· Thread machine, change needles and adjust tension, as required

· Use and understand basic measurements

· Perform sewing functions by following supervisor directions or sewing directions as per our SOP's

· Sewing tasks must be done in a precise and timely manner

· Meet company quality and production standards

· Maintain work area, clean and orderly.

· Ensure facility and equipment is in safe working condition and conduct routine maintenance and start up shut down procedures.

· General cleaning such as but not limited to sweeping & mopping floors and cleaning equipment.

· Assisting other staff with various duties as required.

The ideal candidate profile:

· Energetic, ability to work autonomously, adapt rapidly to changing circumstances and situations and manage stressful situations.

· Collaborative and team-oriented

· English verbal, reading comprehension and writing skills.

· Dedicated to getting the job done while meeting established standards of quality, safety and client satisfaction.

· Understand and apply safety standards, policies and procedures, as well as Operating Rules.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Skills:

· Experience operating a sewing machine, at home or in a factory

· Ability to work in a safe manner, in a seated position

· Demonstrates strong attention to detail, and a strong work ethic

· Able to work in a fast-paced environment

· working with others, continuous learning, , measuring equipment, safe product handling.

Experience:

· Experience operating a sewing machine, at home or in a factory 3 year

Bonus if you have the following;

· fast paced environment: 2 years

· Attention to detail: 1 year

· manufacturing: 2 years

· working in a team: 1 year

***We are currently operating at 42 Niagara St, Hamilton, ON, where production will continue until our relocation.

Blake Medical Group (BMG) will be moving to 60 Prince Charles, Brantford, in January or February 2026 (exact date to be determined).***

Job Type: Full-time
