Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Personal Support Worker Certificate role based in Mississauga, ON, with some work-from-home flexibility. The candidate will support daily activities for clients with special needs, prioritize client-centered care, and assist in developing practical strategies to ensure well-being and safety. The role requires collaboration with teams, clear communication, and the ability to apply learned technical knowledge in providing support.

Qualifications & Program Requirements (Ontario – PSW)

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status
  • Demonstrated English language proficiency (spoken and written)
  • Ability to meet physical and emotional demands of the role
  • Successful Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required prior to clinical placement)
  • Proof of immunizations, TB screening, and CPR/First Aid certification (often required before placement)

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build respectful, trusting relationships with clients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Knowledge and application of safeguarding, safety, and infection-prevention practices to promote client well-being.
  • Effective communication skills for clear interaction with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in applying practical care techniques and technical support strategies relevant to community, long-term care, and healthcare settings.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, professionalism, and a commitment to supporting individuals with special or complex needs.
  • Completion of a Personal Support Worker Certificate program is required for employment; related experience is considered an asset.
