Job Summary

As a Custodian your role is to ensure the property and church building is a clean and well-presented space that creates a compelling environment to be used for church ministry and community events. You will be responsible to close the parking lot and building and ensure the safety and security of the facilities. Through your work of cleaning, organizing, disinfecting, maintaining, and providing care in the church you are directly credited with supporting and enabling the ministries of Peace Portal to function consistently and on an ongoing basis. In-house training will provide you with the confidence and resources you need to deal with any last-minute ministry requirements, emergencies, or equipment failures that may arise.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning and Facility Maintenance

  • Routine cleaning and disinfecting of offices, classrooms, washrooms, and common areas. Wipe and disinfect countertops and clean interior and exterior windows.

  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining kitchen cleanliness in alignment with the standards set for that room under food safety requirements as defined.

  • Perform room cleaning, organizing, and set up/tear down as required before and after ministry programs and events including basic audio/video setup.

  • Remove garbage, recycling, and organic waste from the building to their appropriate bins.

  • Actively supporting the minor maintenance and upkeep of the church building as needed: painting, exchanging lights, other minor repairs, etc.
