Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Health Care Aides to provide exceptional patient and senior care in our parents home. We are looking for 24/7 care so an overnight shift and a dayshift are being offered. The ideal candidate will support our parents with daily living activities, medication management, and emotional well-being. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our parents requiring assistance with their health and daily routines. Candidates should possess strong caregiving skills, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
Responsibilities
- Fraser Health comes in 3 times a day to toilet, shower and dress our mother. Our mother has advanced Alzheimer's and forgets where the toilet is, her bed and on occasion, has incontinence. She uses a walker and is slow to move but at this point is able to manage with just the walker.
- Our father has 5% hearing in one ear and is legally blind as of two months ago. He had been our mother's caretaker prior to. Dad's needs are help with some of his medication and meals/snacks & beverages. He is very independent and toileting is not required.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed instructions and medical terminology guidelines. Prescriptions for Mom are bubble wrapped and labeled by day/meal time.
- We have all meals prepped but heating and serving, clean up would be part of the duties as is ensuring snacks and beverages are given to them.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to our mother.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting with light cleaning duties as needed. We have a weekly housekeeper but general tidying (laundry, dishwasher) will be required.
- Document care provided and communicate effectively with daughters.
Experience
- Prior experience working in nursing homes, assisted living, or home care environments is preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care, hospice care, medication administration, is advantageous
- Previous caregiving roles involving patient care, case management, or caregiving duties are beneficial
- Certification in caregiving or relevant health care training is a plus but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided for qualified candidates
This position is ideal for caring individuals committed to providing respectful and compassionate support to those in need.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
