THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Food and Hospitality worker will be responsible for a variety of tasks relating to food service, including receiving, storing, warming and serving meals as well as set up and clean up after meal times. This role will play a crucial part in ensure the well-being and satisfaction of our Service Users by overseeing a large part of the food prep.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receiving Food

  • Accepts deliveries from driver ensuring accuracy and quality of items received.
  • Verifies delivery against ordered items and quantities.
  • Checks for freshness, expiration dates and any damaged items.
  • Properly stores food item in designated storage areas, adhering to health & safety regulations.
  • Rotate stock to ensure older items are used in first (FIFO – First In, First Out).

Food Preparation

  • Ensures that food is held at the correct temperature.
  • Logs food temperature in Food Logs
  • Prepare serving stations or areas according to planned meal service.
  • Set out appropriate utensils, places, napkins and condiments.
  • Arrange food items attractively and ensure proper portioning.
  • Ensure that dietary restrictions and special requests are accommodated as necessary

Food Serving

  • Greet Service Users warmly and provide assistance an needed.
  • Serve food to Service Users promptly and courteously, following established protocols.
  • Ensure proper portion control.
  • Monitor dining area to ensure cleanliness and replenish items as needed.
  • Address any concerns or questions from Service Users in a professional manner.

Clean Up

  • Clear tables promptly once Service Users have finished their meals.
  • Wipe down tables, chairs and other surfaces.
  • Sweep and mop floors to remove any spills or debris.
  • Clean and sanitize serving utensils, trays, and other equipment used during meal service.
  • Repack kitchen equipment to be returned to the centralized kitchen.
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in hospitality, food service or related field required.
  • Experience working in a Long Term Care or Group facility preferred.
  • Food Handlers certification required.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) preferred.
  • Satisfactory Police Records Check upon hire and every 5 year thereafter.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs without assistance.
  • Ability to work with women of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
  • Ability to meet the physical and psychological demands of the position.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills.
