Primary Duties

Reporting to the Supervisor, Water/Wastewater System Operations, the successful student will work specifically with the Underground Infrastructure team. Primary duties will include flow rating, inspecting, general maintenance of fire hydrants and valves.

Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required

  • OIT certification in water/wastewater operations an asset
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions as required
  • Ability to read and interpret mapping of Water Distribution infrastructure to determine locations of the work to be performed
  • Motivated, demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently with minimum direction
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word and experience inputting data into a database
  • Strong organizational skills specific to mapping and record keeping
  • Experience in public education initiatives and strong communication skills are considered an asset

Special Working Conditions/Conditions of Employment

  • Full-time student at a recognized post-secondary educational institution, and returning to full time attendance in the Fall of 2026.
  • Completion of a Criminal Record Check at the employee's own expense, and to the satisfaction of Utilities Kingston.
  • Valid Class "G" driver's license required.
  • This position may require some flexibility to work evenings and weekends, on a rotational shift schedule.
  • This position may be required to support other departments as necessary.

This vacancy is available to give students practical, hands-on experience during the summer months while supporting our team with regular operations.
