Position Summary
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
The primary objective of the Housekeeping Supervisor is to supervise and train housekeeping and laundry staff, including assigning tasks and coordinating schedules. The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the entire hotel. The Housekeeping Supervisor will be responsible for coaching staff in order to maintain cleanliness and productivity standards.
While no job description can possibly provide a comprehensive list of job duties, the following is a summary of the major responsibilities for the position.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervises housekeeping and laundry staff as duties are being performed.
- Assists Housekeeping Manager with morning meetings and assigning special projects.
- Inspects guest rooms for cleanliness, damages, trash and any potential guest room hazards.
- Updating room status and completing daily reports in the property management system.
- Maintains level of supplies by assisting with monthly inventory and identifying ordering needs.
- Is proactive in identifying guest's needs and addressing guest's issues in a timely manner by providing the highest level of service.
- Provides a high level of customer service at all times; remains professional.
- Ensures that the entire hotel, including guest and employee areas, are kept clean and free from hazards.
- Report all maintenance issues to the engineering department.
- Uses HelloShift application for consistent communication between all departments.
- Assist with lost and found using appropriate policies and procedures.
- Trains and develops housekeeping staff with a focus on The Admiral's cleanliness, productivity and safety standards.
- Ensures cleanliness standards are met and rooms are being completed in a timely manner.
- Occasionally complete full cleaning of guest rooms and public areas, maintaining the cleanliness standards of the hotel.
- Assists Housekeeping Manager in scheduling housekeeping staff, ensuring staffing levels for each day, and reviewing forecasts on the property management system.
- Assist the Housekeeping Manager with linen inventory, coaching and counseling of staff, and assisting in recruitment.
- Complete basic administrative tasks in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager.
- Attend weekly leadership meetings in absence of the Housekeeping Manager.
- Work to resolve team member issues when they arise in conjunction with the Housekeeping Manager in order to resolve problems and maintain the culture of the department.
- Performs open and closing procedures for the housekeeping department in the absence of Housekeeping Manager.
- All other duties as assigned by any member of management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Housekeeping Inspectors, Laundry Attendants, Room Attendants, Housepersons, & Public Area Attendants.

Education
High school diploma or a GED
Experience
5 years of housekeeping experience, 2 years of supervisory experience in housekeeping.
Skills
- Ability to communicate in English with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding.
- Ability to use industrial cleaning equipment and products.
- Understands the principles behind providing excellent customer service to guests.
- Possesses the ability to manage a team of housekeepers effectively.
- Demonstrates organizational skills required for ensuring that tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Exhibits the ability to teach others how to do their jobs in a friendly, courteous and effective manner.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Shows basic computer knowledge for the purposes of scheduling, recordkeeping and more.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including holidays, evenings and weekends.
Working Conditions
Equipment to Be Used:
- Phone, Radio, Computer, Software Applications such as Microsoft Office, Helloshift, Google suite, Opera PMS, cell phones, printers, scanners, copiers, cleaning fluids and solvents, and general cleaning tools.
Physical & Mental Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, or crawl; and talk or hear. The team member frequently is required to sit, stand, reach with hands and arms. The team member is occasionally required to climb or balance.
- Ability to visually see imperfections and details.
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
- Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written.
- Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place/move objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds.
- Requires grasping, writing, sitting, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
- Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
- Must be able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, and stooping.
- Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation and repetitive hand and arm movement frequently.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, twist, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to climb stairs.
- Able to comply with policies, procedures and codes of ethics.
Work Environment
- A housekeeping supervisor is required to perform the same housekeeping tasks as the individuals they supervise, so the work environment fluctuates based upon the types of services being performed as well as the facility in which the individual is working.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, which may include extreme weather conditions such as high heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.
