Helen Betty Osborne Ininiw Education Resource Centre is a Nursery to Grade 12 school serving approximately 1,400 students and a professional staff of 90, including 3 Vice-Principals. It is one of the largest and most unique schools in the province. The school is located in Norway House, Manitoba which is a thriving community situated at the picturesque tip of Lake Winnipeg and the Nelson River. The community is fully serviced with a hospital, shopping mall, two community recreation complexes, a post-secondary campus and daily air service.

Subjects to be taught include English Language Arts, Geography and Reading is Thinking.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education Degree and valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
  • A sound knowledge of provincial High School curricula
  • Previous High School teaching experience
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life
  • Experience with integrating Indigenous culture and land-based teaching into curriculum
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Experience working in a northern community
  • Experience working with students with unique needs
  • A commitment to differentiated instruction
  • A willingness to inquire into best practices and reflect on practices
  • A team player committed to the belief that all students can learn
  • Self-motivated
