Remediation Technician

When disasters happen, Remediation Technicians at On Side are truly on 'your side'. Asbestos and mold can pop-up anywhere and requires special knowledge and experience to deal with. Remediation Technicians can perform remediation services while protecting the health and safety of workers and clients.

Remediation Technicians are responsible for:

  • Ensuring a safe work area from asbestos and mould by knowing how to remove and remediate potential dangers from the work site
  • Identifying and disposing of asbestos and mould contaminated materials
  • Cross training into other departments
  • Work locally and out of town

What you bring:

  • Asbestos Level 2 or 3 Certification (we will check)
  • Basic carpentry skills to build containment
  • Ability to perform work following procedure and legislation
  • Clean shaven face (if applicable) for every shift (for full mask fit)
  • Willingness to wear full PPE as required for duration of shift
  • Cleanliness of site, vehicle, and tools
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow scope of work
  • Organized with a good sense of time— you're rarely late and know where all your tools are
  • Physically fit— remediation can, at times, include heavy lifting
  • Comfortable in confined spaces
  • Friendly and enjoys working in a team
  • A safety-first mindset
  • Tech-savvy (comfortable using apps and software)
  • Valid driver's licence and a clean criminal record (we do check)
  • Ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken

Other stuff that will contribute to your success but isn't required:

  • IICRC certification (restoration focus)
  • A background in demolition
  • Construction experience

Of Note

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Pay: $26.00-$28.00 per hour

  • Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule (Responding to emergency calls after business hours)? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours as per the schedule. Premium and overtime is paid.
  • Are you able and willing to work out of town for extended periods if work is not always local?
  • Are you able to wear full PPE and work within containment as required for the duration of your shift? This includes being clean shaven (if applicable) for full face mask.

  • Are you physically fit? This position can be physically demanding and requires a person to bend, crouch, reach, kneel, etc. Heavy lifting of 50lbs+.
  • Cross training is required for this role. Successful candidates will be trained in Contents, Demolition and Water Damage. Are you able and willing to train and work in other departments?

Experience:

  • identifying and disposing of asbestos: 1 year (preferred)
  • demolition: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Unrestricted Canadian Driver's License (preferred)
  • Do you have a valid type 2 or type 3 Remediation ticket? (preferred)
