Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Major Case Recovery Specialist to lead the investigation, negotiation, and resolution of complex multi-line and multi-jurisdictional claims recoveries.
Reporting to the Investigative and Recovery Services Manager, you will leverage your expertise to drive subrogation outcomes, oversee litigation, and provide technical guidance to colleagues and stakeholders across Canada. You'll handle highly complex assignments, acting as a subject matter expert and championing process improvements to support our claims recovery objectives.

What you will do
- Direct the investigation of workers' compensation, auto physical damage, and property claims.
- Evaluate legal liability and aggressively pursue, negotiate, and resolve multi-line/multi-jurisdictional subrogation claims.
- Secure additional information/investigation from claim offices when onsite investigation is necessary.
- Communicate with insureds, witnesses, attorneys, and underwriters to gather and share essential information.
- Oversee litigation management and file arbitration as needed.
- Analyze key data and monitor resources to support business objectives and improve recovery processes.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to support complex case resolution and develop best practices.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to keep colleagues informed on claims recoveries.
- Act as a technical expert for your team and maintain up-to-date knowledge on claims recoveries.
- Be available for business travel and extended hours during peak periods.
Job Qualifications - What You Bring To The Table
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the insurance industry
OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the insurance industry
OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice (including Associate Degree) and 5 or more years of insurance industry experience
AND
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of commercial lines insurance, including jurisdictional laws
Preferred:
- Experience handling claims across multiple lines of business
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced analytical and organizational skills
- Litigation management experience
- Detail-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
