Overview
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Assistant Manager to join our bakery/coffee shop team. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the shop, delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining quality standards, and motivating the team. This role requires someone with leadership skills, a positive attitude, and a love for building and maintaining a welcoming culture
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management:
- Assist in day-to-day operations to ensure the coffee shop runs smoothly.
- Help manage inventory, place orders with suppliers, and monitor stock levels to avoid shortages or overstock.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and cleanliness standards in accordance with local regulations.
- Help maintain all equipment (coffee machines, grinders, Panini press, etc.) and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Customer Service:
- Ensure that every customer receives excellent service and quality coffee in a timely manner.
- Address customer requests, queries or concerns promptly, finding solutions to improve their experience.
- Lead by example, promoting a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the coffee shop.
- Engage with customers to build loyalty and a positive community environment.
- Team Leadership:
- Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring baristas and other staff members.
- Support scheduling and manage team shifts to ensure adequate coverage, especially during peak hours.
- Provide ongoing training on product attributes, presentation, customer service, and bakery policies to maintain high standards.
- Motivate and lead the team, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Sales & Marketing:
- Assist with promoting special offers, events, and seasonal menu items to increase sales and foot traffic.
- Help manage loyalty programs and customer engagement initiatives.
- Work with the Store Manager to meet financial goals
- Problem Solving & Decision Making:
- Assist in handling any operational challenges, from staff scheduling conflicts to equipment malfunctions.
- Make informed decisions in the Store Manager's absence to maintain a seamless workflow.
Qualifications:
- Experience: At least one year of experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a coffee shop, café, or similar food and beverage environment
- Leadership: Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and coach a diverse team.
- Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle complaints and resolve conflicts efficiently.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00-$26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
Work Location: In person
