Dream is looking for a Site Superintendent
We are always looking for the best and brightest to join our thriving community. Dream's Construction Team is currently looking for a Site Superintendent responsible for assisting with overseeing the construction of residential home building activities.
Who are you?
There's a lot happening at Dream, and it's happening fast. Are you motivated and organized? Do you have great attention to detail and enjoy hands on work? Do you love working with people? If so, read on. We want to hear from you.
Over the 5+ years you've worked in residential construction you've proven that you are not afraid to think outside the box to find the best approach to achieve results. You are proactive, leading by example rather than sitting back. You consider the bigger picture when focusing on new initiatives and you thrive on driving improvement and efficiency. We want to bring on someone who is eager to learn, work hard, and have fun.
In other words, we want you to fit in here. This is an opportunity for you to take on responsibilities, build on your already strong skill set and help your team achieve its goals, all in a work environment that is fast-paced, dynamic and fun.
What will you do?
We believe we are only as good as the last home we build. We take the manufacturing of our homes very seriously. Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role. There will be more, but we can discuss those in person.
- Supervise various trades on site and ensure their quality of work through inspection and quality control;
- Ensure projects stay on time by managing site-specific schedules, trades and construction;
- Ensure jobs align with build times, safety and building code requirements;
- Coach and mentor staff and trades in an effort to continuously develop talent;
- Approach issues/concerns strategically and maintain positive communications with our internal clients as well as external customers, trades and supply partners;
- Coordinate and schedule the trades/supply logistics by working with the Purchasing department to deliver an on time and on budget project;
- Manage materials to minimize waste, and ensure sites are secure to prevent theft and damages;
- Understand and implement OH&S requirements to ensure Dream is a leader in safe worksites and communities for our customers to live in;
- Ensure we maintain a safe, clean work environment to prevent injuries and hazards; and
- Manage city inspections for code compliance.
What type of experience and skills do you have?
These are only some of the things we'd like you to bring to the table. We can cover the rest when we meet.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial and multi-residential construction projects with a post-secondary education that supports your trade skills.
- Extensive knowledge of home building, construction process, project management, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Certified SCOT, First Aid with CPR & AED and fall protection preferred.
- Working knowledge of computer application skills with proven proficiency in MS Office.
- LEED for Homes, Master Builder, R2000 certifications are an asset.
- Strong verbal and written business communication skills.
- We expect you to be proactive and have creative problem solving skills.
- You have a valid driver's license and a vehicle to prove it.
