Duties and responsibilities

Early Years Program

  • Ensure programs meet VIHA Community Care Licensing requirements and maintain enrollment/registration accuracy.
  • Develop and oversee curriculum based on the BC Early Learning Framework; support staff in delivering meaningful programming.
  • Work with families and staff to create and update individual care/medical plans when needed.
  • Build strong relationships with parents/caregivers and external professionals.
  • Lead and support Early Years staff, including hiring, onboarding, supervision, training, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with Program Supervisors and admin teams on billing, reporting, and enrollment.

Centre Operations

  • Maintain compliance with VIHA Licensing, BGC Operating Standards, WorkSafeBC, and BGCCVI policies.
  • Support the Out of School Care Supervisor with licensing duties (inspections, investigations, reporting).
  • Provide supervision and performance management to the Out of School Care Supervisor and Early Years staff.
  • Foster trauma-informed, inclusive program environments; participate in promotional activities and events as needed.
  • Coordinate facility and vehicle maintenance with the Operations Coordinator.
  • Participate in safety inspections and uphold OH&S requirements.

Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma (or equivalent combination of education/experience)
  • ECE certification and eligibility for approval as a Licensed Manager within 30 days.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certificate approved by Community Care Facilities Licensing
  • Two years' experience in licensed child care, including staff supervision.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and support diverse needs.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook, and basic document/spreadsheet tools.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
