Job Description:
Join Our Dynamic Master of Counselling Faculty
Are you passionate about shaping the next generation of counselling professionals? City University in Canada invites experienced clinicians who are excited to coach and foster practice excellence, supporting the integration of theory to practice while students are in internship.
Join our vibrant BC Master of Counselling program in Vancouver. We offer a collaborative environment where clinical training, scholarship, social justice, and ethical practice are at the core of what we do.
Our innovative learning formats are designed for working adults, with flexible in-person classes as well as blended options that mix online engagement with in-person residencies. Our students thrive when mentored by practitioners who bring real-world experience into the classroom.
As a Practicum Instructor, you'll join a dedicated team committed to guiding, mentoring, and empowering emerging professionals in the field. New instructors are welcomed with thorough orientation, ongoing support, and a collaborative, collegial environment where both your professional development and your impact as an educator truly matter.
What You'll Do:
- Lead engaging in-class discussions on case conceptualization, presentations, and real-world practice challenges across (ideally) three consecutive quarters. Classes are held in an online synchronous format.
- Provide clinical experience and professional supervision that extends beyond the student's internship setting.
- Guide students as they participate in group supervision sessions.
- Support students in discussing internship-related challenges.
- Oversee students as they journal their client-contact therapy work.
- Mentor students in conducting professional clinical case presentations.
- Serve as a field liaison between our academic program and student internship sites by bridging communication between both parties.
- Monitor the suitability of the placement for student learning
Requirements:
What We're Looking For:
- Master's degree, doctoral degree or PhD preferred in Counselling Psychology or a related field (from a recognized, accredited program: CCPA, CPA, BCACC, BCCSW, or equivalent)
- Registration with a relevant professional association (CCPA, BCACC, BCCSW, or similar)
- At least five years of clinical experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Dedication to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and commitment to the First Peoples Principles of Learning
- Prior post-secondary teaching experience is an asset
Help us shape a welcoming, ethical, and forward-thinking learning community, and expand the boundaries of Counselling education in BC.
Interested? We look forward to connecting and welcoming new colleagues to our engaged and innovative faculty team.
