Job Summary

Z'gamok Construction, a subsidiary of Z'gamok Enterprises Inc., an Indigenous business fully owned by Sagamok Anishnawbek, provides a diverse range of services across multiple business segments, including construction, haulage, and underground mining services.

Z'gamok Construction is seeking a dedicated and proactive Transportation Manager to oversee all logistics and transportation operations for the movement of aggregate materials. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant practices while supporting production and project schedules across pits, quarries, and construction sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage driving staff while overseeing project execution.
  • Coordinate closely with pits, quarries, and construction sites to support production schedules and delivery timelines.
  • Schedule and dispatch drivers to appropriate routes or site projects.
  • Communicate with drivers throughout their routes to provide updates and instructions.
  • Facilitate load coordination with brokers and customers to optimize routing and service performance.
  • Oversee accurate completion of daily production reports, timesheets, inspections, and safety documentations.
  • Manage transportation records, driver logs, weight tickets, scale tickets, and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate equipment requirements and service requests to support efficient daily operations.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Effectively communicate with all staff and report internally on production timelines.
  • Address and resolve delivery issues or delays quickly and professionally.
  • Conduct daily safety talks.
  • Participate in safety incidents investigations and reviews.
  • Assist with employee relations and apply the progressive discipline policy fairly and consistently.
  • Ensure all transportation activities comply with MTO regulations, weight limits, safety requirements, and aggregate industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Valid class G driver's license.
  • Experience in transportation or fleet management within the aggregate, construction, or heavy equipment industries.
  • Strong understanding of MTO regulations, load restrictions, axle weight limits, and aggregate hauling requirements.
  • Experience managing float moves, or similar heavy equipment transport
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Microsoft application knowledge.
  • Familiarity with dispatch software. (e.g., GeoTab, McLeod, TMS, DAT, Load Boards)
