TD Securities is one of Canada's most active dealers in Debt, Equity and Commodity products. Our Sales and Trading business deals on a daily basis with institutional investors, corporations, central banks and governments worldwide in the trading and sale of outstanding and new issue products.

We also offer advisory and analytical support to institutional investors ranging from hedge funds to real money managers, whose make sophisticated demands on our research and analytics capabilities.

This group of talented professionals bring a broad range of experience and skill garnered in a variety of occupations and environments to TD Securities. Our core group of macro strategists generate macro, top-down strategies, bringing experience from finance ministries, central banks and supra-national agencies. Our market strategists' take our top-down views and render profitable investment opportunities to clients. Their expertise is built on years of experience in global investment banking and/or portfolio management at world-class institutional investors.

Role Description:

Provide quantitative, analytical and publishing support for the Head of Commodity Strategy and Commodity Strategy team.

This includes (but not limited to):

  • Edit/format/create/publish documents and charts, incorporating charts and tables.
  • Managing commodity supply/demand and trading models in Python, Excel, Eviews and Excel-VBA environments.
  • Modelling markets and behaviors
  • Understanding of commodity, FX, equity and fixed income markets.
  • Understand broad macroeconomics, monetary policy dynamics and the relationship between macro environment and market pricing.
  • Strong writing and verbal communications skills for publications, trading ideas, industry studies and client interactions.
  • Obtain and manipulate data from various databases such as Bloomberg, Haver Analytics, Reuters and Industry Sources, to use for creating systematic strategies and creating economic and market risk indices.

Job Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Python, and preparedness to upgrade existing skills
  • Skills in other programming languages would be an asset.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and VBA for Excel.
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Eviews, other econometric packages would be an asset.
  • A keen eye for accuracy and detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
    Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a highly challenging environment, in a cooperative team environment.

Additional Information

  • A graduate degree or equivalent relevant experience in Economics or Finance.
  • Previous energy and commodity market experience would be an asset
