Job Overview

My Thai Cafe in Victoria BC is looking for an experienced Line Cook who is available for full-time hours. Individuals must have proven success in the kitchen as a team player who are passionate about food and cooking.

Key Responsibilities (Line Cook – Thai Cuisine)

  • Prepare and cook authentic Thai dishes according to restaurant recipes and standards.
  • Follow recipes accurately to maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and quality.
  • Assist with prep work such as chopping vegetables, making sauces, and marinating meats.
  • Manage cooking stations (e.g., wok, fry, curry) efficiently during service.
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are met at all times, including proper storage and labeling of ingredients.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils throughout the shift.
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and servers to ensure smooth service.
  • Follow direction from the Head Chef and contribute to a positive, respectful work environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-5 years of professional experience as a head chef, sous chef, or senior chef with a strong focus on Thai cuisine.
  • Experience with Thai cuisine preferred — familiarity with curries, stir-fries, soups, and Thai ingredients (herbs, sauces, spices).
  • Strong knife skills and knowledge of cooking techniques (wok, grill, fry, and sauté).
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency in flavor and presentation.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices (FoodSafe certification an asset).
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Pay: $3,000.00-$3,500.00 per month
